Mike Parker
Managing Director
Bio
With an Honours Degree in Sport and Exercise Science, a strong project planning and management background and PRINCE 2 (Project Management) Practitioner Status, Mike has over 16 years experience working in public health, through employment with the local authority, primary care, the third sector and the private sector. Throughout this period Mike has been responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating public health interventions and partnerships, specialising in physical activity.
A former Chair of the North West Health and Physical Activity Forum, Mike’s recent schedule has included work with the Department of Health as part of the National Implementation Team for the NHS Health Trainer Service; work with the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) on physical activity and the built environment, national involvement in the development and evaluation of a range of physical activity programmes and interventions in England, Scotland and other European countries.
Mike has worked with a range of academics on evaluation and research projects and has written several published papers relating to public health interventions.
Mike Unger
Bio
Mike was CEO of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation until December 2008. While there he sat on the National Cancer Research Institute Board and the UK Lung Cancer Coalition. He also advised the Department of Health, PCTs and consultancies on anti-smoking policies.
Mike has been editor of some of the country’s largest regional newspapers – including the Liverpool Daily Post, Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News. He also sat on the Board of the Guardian Media Group plc.

Liz Johnson
Bio
Liz Johnson is an experienced senior manager who has worked in all three sectors and has an extensive range of skills and a sound knowledge of health, local authority, partnership/inter agency working, in a range of dynamic and politicised environments.
Liz’s skill set includes: management, governance, partnership working, commissioning, communications and media management, organisational development/governance, political awareness, negotiation/influencing, organisational development, facilitation, advocacy, stakeholder involvement, creative problem solving, strategic planning and performance management, analysis, teamwork.

Robin Ireland
Bio
Robin has worked in the public health field since 1984 and became a Master of Public Health at the University of Liverpool in 2007. He is very experienced in all aspects of non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention and is a member of the NICE prevention of cardiovascular disease development group and is acting as a consultant for the WHO European Office in NCD prevention in central and eastern Europe.
